today...

it is a gorgeous sunny day out. our office windows are open, and there is a Beatles cover band playing a free concert at Lentspace, the park across the street from us (that's them in the middle). the songs are drifting up through the windows and into our space, it's lovely. happy friday!

Mel Robson

some amazing pieces by ceramic artist Mel Robson. i particularly love the recipe bowls. as described by Mel- "Each bowl is decorated with a poem or a recipe in the handwriting of some pretty amazing women in my family. I got quite sentimental as they sat there all together on my workbench, this little collection of bowls covered in the handwriting of sisters, aunts, mothers and grandmothers." i love the fragile quality of the bowls, the translucence that allows you to see the handwriting right through them... a pretty good day

this has been a tough year to stay positive. my health has been an issue, and many times it has felt like the world is not on my side. but today, well, it’s a pretty good day. and a pretty good day is better than i’ve had in a while. it is friday, for one. second, i am feeling ok, which is a milestone in and of it’s self. also, I went to the post office this morning to pick up 2 boxes. one- from my mom, homemade cookies (made with love!). two- nailpolish from OPI’s new Alice in Wonderland collection- Mad as a Hatter and Absolutely Alice (a gift from myself). i want to take this little feeling of well-being, wrap it up tight and carry it with me, so i can pull it out whenever i need to. when you are in a bad place, it is hard to remember the world can feel ok.

springtime

it is beautiful here today. spring is really in the air, and i am thinking about planting a few things this weekend. considering the size of my patio (think parking space), i will be sticking with herbs and flowers in planter boxes. if i had a real garden, i would snatch up these spoon markers in daisychestnut's etsy shop. love them!

'hood

it is no secret that i love my neighborhood. apparently others do too! this weeks New York Magazine found Cobble Hill/Boerum Hill to be the 4th best neighborhood to live in, in all of NYC (out of 60 'hoods!) in other polling news, they say that the people who live here are the happiest in NYC :)

really?

i am currently experiencing more of a chaos vs chaos situation. sometimes it is hard to shut my brain off.

bare

i seem to be having a moment with all things sheer, clear, transparent and nude. it feels like it is coming from a place where concepts are simple, nude is naive, the meaning of things is transparent, and the truth is clear. it is a clean base upon which to start. a solid foundation based in a reality that finds room for hope and whimsy in the everyday. there is something inherently feminine about it, without being girly. the feeling is captured nicely by Stella McCartney in her Fall 2010 ready to wear line.

Jean Pelle

i am a fan of Jean Pelle's bubble chandelier, and have been coveting it for some time. it would be perfection over my dining room table. yesterday i was bumming around on etsy, and came across the below earrings. i fell in love before i even realized i was at Jean's etsy shop! i decided i should treat myself, and now these glass orbs are speeding (well, snail mailing) towards me. can't wait to get them!
